Where do you live?
Cañon City, Colorado – which is in south central Colorado

Top 3 things we should know about you?
1. My family is the most important thing in my life! I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 45 years (this December). Have 2 great kids who have blessed me with 2 equally great spouses and a total of 5 grandkids. Our favorite hiking/snowshoeing/backpacking companions are our Denver “kids” – Shawn, his wife Julia, and 13-year-old granddaughter, Jillian.

2. I live to be outdoors! Hiking/backpacking in the summer months and snowshoeing/backpacking in the winter months. My husband and I moved to Colorado from the Midwest 7 years ago just to feed the addiction!

3. Despite my age (63), hearing and vision challenges (I have Usher Syndrome); I intend to stay physically active. My female relatives have all lived into their 90s (with one aunt still going strong at 99!) and my mom at 94+! I started running 5K races two years ago, have climbed some of Colorado highest mountains 14000 + ft) and am planning on participating in the Esprit de She mini-triathlon next spring in Arizona.

Favorite aspect of snowshoeing?
I love the beauty, solitude and peace of winter landscapes! My favorite trails are usually deserted once it gets cold and snowy and everything looks so different and so clean when it is covered in white!

Favorite drink while snowshoeing?
I love hot cocoa, spiced hot apple cider and herbal teas when snowshoeing but I’d have to say that my favorite drink to take along on a snowshoe trek is a thermos of Peppermint Patties to be sipped on après snowshoe!

Favorite trail snack?
My daughter-in-law and I have really become enamored with dehydrating fresh fruits and making jerky, so I would have to say that Julia’s beef jerky sticks have become my favorite trail snack along with some nice hot soup!

Dream snowshoe trip?
I would love, love, love to snowshoe in Patagonia!

Anything else we should know?
I’m so happy to be a Tubbs’ Ambassador! I’m all about the outdoors and try to interest others (we drag all our out-of-state visitors) in hiking and snowshoeing. I think outdoor time is so important, especially for young people. We hike and snowshoe with our grandkids every chance we can get.
