There really is nothing prettier than a trip out to the mountains where you are surrounded by fresh snow. The mountains are truly breathtaking and the trees and waterways are the perfect accent to that beauty.
We recently headed out to Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. This park was the first national park in Canada and is just filled with beautiful sites. One such site is Lake Minnewanka. In the summer, this lake is hugely popular for hiking, biking, boating and despite its’ frigid temperature, it is also popular with scuba divers. The result of a series of dams, there is actually a whole town underwater to explore. In the winter people come out for the cross country skiing and snowshoeing.
We decided to just sort of explore along the shore line. The lake was not frozen over when we were there. It was just such a beautiful place to snowshoe. With fluffy powdery snow, the beautiful lake, and the incredible mountains all around, we couldn’t help but be in awe.
We took a few short breaks for making snow angels, having snowshoe running races, and to fuel up on the fun candies our son had picked out. We eventually headed down a trail to the bridge across Stewart Canyon. All in all, it was a nice afternoon of snowshoeing, with pristine beauty all around.
