How to Care For Your Snowshoes

Traditional wood frame snowshoes with rawhide or neoprene lacing do require annual care. Keep rawhide lacing well varnished to prevent premature fatigue from moisture, and make sure to store out of the reach of animals.

Neoprene lacing can fray with use; fraying can be arrested by quickly passing a flame over the lacing.

Aluminum frame snowshoes with synthetic decking materials and polyurethane composite/plastic snowshoes require no maintenance.

Simply remove excess snow and store for future use.
