Comments about Tubbs Snowshoes Men's Journey Snowshoe:
After many years of snowshoeing I have retired my 10 x 56 traditional for a pair of Tubbs Journey cross countrys. A recent new right hip found me in need of shoes with more flex (less joint stress) and better grip as icey conditions here in Alaska are quite common, to mitigate the risk of falling. I really like the binding as it is more supportive and also allows me to more easily strap on and off without bending excessivly at the hip and waist which could cause a dislocation. I have been using the shoes for my physical therapy and would never consider going back to my old shoes which are more jarring and much less manuverable in tight spots. Today I found myself in just one of those spots where I was confronted by a fallen spruce. I easily climbed upon and over the snow covered branches and proceded safely on my way. My only complaint, however trivial, is I noticed the aluminum frame has no wear pads to prevent the tail section from scratching badly into the metal as it comes in contact with the occasional uncovered surface of asphalt or concrete parking lots. A [$] snowshoe deserves good care and this is an obvious lack of detail from a design standpoint.
