Comments about Tubbs Snowshoes Men's Frontier Snowshoe:
I went out on borrowed cheap snowshoes (NOT Tubbs) on fresh 12" of powder. It was my 1st time ever snowshoeing. I had a blast but hated the shoes!! So I started to do some research and found the Tubbs was a very popular and recommended brand. I thought that the Frontier would be a good fit for a beginner doing the type of terrain I would do.
I bought a pair at EMS and the sales rep was very helpful in getting me into the right size (I got a 25, I am 5'11" and 180 and dont plan on anymore than day hikes right now).
I found the binding system easy to get into and out of and it snugged up nicely. I liked the heel strap and had no problem at all with it (after reading a couple of the reviews this was a concern).
The only issue I had was the little piece of plastic that holds the extra strap length did not hold it tight and got loose. I fixed this by doubling it back under the plastic fastener and it worked like a champ. I am looking forward to many uses next season.
I would highly recommend them to others (I know my dad is going to buy a pair).

Exercise, getting outside on a cold day to enjoy the fresh snow, allows the dog some winter running that does not include salty roads.

Fell off four times when I used them in deep snow because of the rear strap, waist of money. Was very disappointed, when I first tried them.

Merchant response: Hi Steve,
The heel strap works great, just make sure the tab on the buckle is fully engaged in the hole. The people in our office that can always be found in the backcountry say this buckle is their favorite! Hope that helps!
