By Sacramento Inner City Outings

from Sacramento, CA

About Me Intermediate

  • Stable

Cons

  • Loose Straps
  • Poor Traction

Best Uses

  • Flat Terrain
  • Off Trail
  • Rolling Terrain

Comments about Tubbs Snowshoes Men's Frontier Snowshoe:

These are great snowshoes- really slim profile makes them great for traveling on narrow trails, and keeps you from tripping yourself while stepping on them. Also makes them great for running. They provide good buoyancy, but minimal "flip-flopping" while running. Ideal for deeper snow and moderate terrain. Crampons weren't quite enough for steeper, icy slopes

These were given to my school as part of a classroom set from Tubbs. They have been a great snowshoe and are very easy to secure. I have no had any problems with them falling off in any of the conditions I have used them in. I would recommend these to any adults looking for snowshoes.

Comments about Tubbs Snowshoes Men's Frontier Snowshoe:

The Bindings were designed by a preschooler, as they do not stay on your feet....mainly the heel strap, just does NOT stay in place, which makes for a short walk before you have to put them back on your feet. I shouldn't have paid $159.99 They are clearly not worth it at all.

Plastic connector in tubular frame broke after a couple short hikes. Sent this model back and ordered the Journey model. Hope my new ones are of better quality. Very disappointed with these shoes.

Found the heel strap mechanism awkward to cinch and doesn't hold well. Must be a better way to secure that strap. I'm going to wire it in place.

Comments about Tubbs Snowshoes Men's Frontier Snowshoe:

No doubt Tubbs has mastered the design of the snowshoe. I have been using snowshoes for 20 years and have used many brands and designs. Sorry tubbs but this snowshoe broke with normal wear and tear and no abuse. The metal braket that secures the binding to the frame broke and this is unacceptable. I am just out of warrentee and will have to spend some $ to get them to a repair site. Really this product should be more durable. I am a little shy to buy from you again. Hopefully I can get a repair job.

Comments about Tubbs Snowshoes Men's Frontier Snowshoe:

Used for breaking trails in brush with occasional fallen trees to climb over. Excellent traction on fallen trees and short ice covered slopes.

Aluminum frame broke on first 3 hour hike at junction point. Partial tearing of netting material as a result. Frame was joined with a plastic piece which sheared-off.
